tubby time = bloggy time

It is stiiiiiilllll snowing here in the north east.  We are now 30+ inches above last years total, and it is only march 2nd....... What do I mean by this you ask? It has snowed on my birthday in the past, April 21st.  It feels like years away from spring and I am really feeling the winter blues bad this week.  I dulled the pain with "a" cupcake from Bread Basket today, I had 1/2 of a Saratoga Special (chocolate with real whole cherry filling vanilla frosting) and 1/2 of their version of the "Hostess" cupcake.  Yum and Yummer! In other words, chocolate overload in the best way available.  (No cupcake by I.V available.)

Long story short I have been too tired/ambitionless/cold/unimaginative to post.  I kept saying, I have to post....tomorrow.  Next thing I know, February is gone and here we are at March.  I decided that while Peanut plays in the tub I will sit and blog update and hope she doesn't splash water on my netbook.  Fat chance mommy.
Speaking of Peanut, we transitioned her crib to the toddler version.  She reassured our decision by promptly falling out twice her first night sleeping in it.  The other night I was putting her to bed and she cried because she wasn't "shweepy" and said "momma, I have somepin in my eye"  and when I asked if it was her crazy hair she told me "no, it (sob) is (sob) my (sob) teawrssss (sob)  She is such a hoot.

Shippin Off to Boston

Most people will go on a warm vacation when it is so cold that your breath freezes in the air, by the way for all of you that don't live in upstate NY, that would be around -27ish degrees...... Where does this girl go.....Thursday I will be leaving for The Yankee Dental Conference in Boston MA and coming home Saturday night.  They are currently getting snow.  I think that I need my head checked.  Normally I am super excited,  I usually restock my years supply of toothbrushes, but my conference fav's are not going to be there so this is my first year with a new crew.  I might actually have to act like an adult.   We will definately still have a great time.  Any who, baby is staying home with Daddy, but since there is snow......  she will probably end up with a grandma or aunt so Daddy can go snowmobiling.   I will see you all again Saturday.
I think I will be making my favorite pizza tonight because it is soooooo cold out.

Pesto Chicken Pizza
One boneless chicken breast, grilled or broiled and shreaded or cubed
jar of pesto
feta
garlic cloves, crushed or finely chopped
parmesean cheese
premade pizza dough from the refrig section

When I think of it, I usually try to take the dough out at least a couple hours before I am ready to make my pizza,  I just take it out of the bag and place in a bown, drizzle with some olive oil and let sit on the counter.
I like to spread the dough out on a stone first and actually cook it for like 10 minutes and then it doesn't get soggy
spread as much pesto as you like on the pizza dough to cover the whole surface
spread your chicken on top
sprinkle the garlic randomly
throw on some feta
sprinkle some parmesean over the whole pizza
toss in oven at 400 for about 20 mins

I don't usually like a lot of melted cheese on pizza so that is why I like this pizza.  Other options for yummy home made pizza are
*Chicken parm pizza, use spagetti sauce, chunks of breaded chicken, ricotta cheese and some mozzarella
*BBQ chicken pizza, use BBQ sauce instead of red sauce and shredded chicken and some mozz and cheddar
*Portobello Pizza: pesto, slices of grilled portobello mushrooms, sauteed red peppers and spinach and goat cheese and drizzle with balsamic reduction AFTER baking
*Caprese:  slices of roma tomatoes, slices of fresh mozz and fresh basil leaves & GARLIC!
*Chicken, Spinach and Artichoke
oh the options go on and on

I am off to go pack my thickest long johns, coat, hat, mittens, balaclava, hand warmers, sweatpants and sweaters......
Stay warm!

Another Party

I thought I would post some pictures from Averys 1st Birthday Party.  The theme was inspired by a clip art pink elephant.  It turned into an explosion of pink from there.  The invite read :  Please come for some cake and fun, our little Peanut is turning 1!
When I said explosion of pink, I mean everything was all different shades of pink.

"Happy Birthday Peanut"
I used simple scrapbook paper and a circle cutter.  My mom helped me make all the poms which of course are a Martha Stewart specialty and the tutorial can be found at

My cupcake tree, best gift ever.
I made a pink tutu that wrapped around the base.  It was made out of a tule and pink ribbons with a green polka dot tie.  The cupcake flags were all different scrapbook paper prints and colors but all had some shade of pink to tie them together.  Some were printed with "1st" some with "A."  All were super girly.

This table kind of came together while we were decorating.  I had my DH cut the "A" out of some scrap plywood and painted with some pink paint and added green polka dots to match the cupcake stand tutu.
I think the pink marabu was left over from decorating other areas and just seemed to fit the mirror perfectly.

We picked up some pink glittery snowflakes that we scattered around strands of pink maribu.
I added two photos from Aves first year.  One from the day she was born and the other was her actual first smile that I was lucky enough to catch!  My MIL gave me the handprint kit and the "a" monogram candle.  I was so happy how this table turned out.  It was so girly and sweet.

Peanut had some fun too!

Ahhh, as happy as I was to get a photo of all three of us, I was so busy setting up the party that I never had time to put on any make-up.   Avery can you say, " hot mess mommy?"
HeeHee.

Snow Princess Winter Wonderland Birthday

Peanuts Birthday was a huge success!  We crammed about 30 of our closest friends and family into our tiny house so celebrate our favorite girls 2nd Birthday.  She loves Dora the Explorer and so we had to incorporate her into the mix but since her Birthday is January 3rd, I had to go with a Winter Wonderland theme.

The beverage table.  I used white lace printed tableclothes throughout.
I cut these branches off the birch tree in my back yard and wound them together to create and arch.  I placed them in a heavy pot and just covered the pot with a snow flake tree skirt.
Cupcake tree.  Devils food cupcakes that I made with yogurt instead of oil.  I used the recipe from my favorite cook book: The Joy of Cooking Cookbook.  Then of course I had to make rainbow chip cupcakes because they are a family favorite for all the girl birthdays.  I frosted them with a frosting bag with round tip and sprinkled with silver and blue sugar.  I had two mercury glass goblets that I loaded with blue candycanes.  Instead of candles in the votive holders we used disco ball ornaments.  Couldn't leave out Dora in her chariot.

Snowflakes were every where.  Yaya collected all of the snowflakes in a quick trip to the Dollar Tree.

Yaya put all the garlands together with Christmas lights, white and silver garland, and tons of snowflakes of course in all different shapes and sizes and amounts of sparkle.

I spent an hour cutting out snowflakes from blue cardstock trying to make each one different from the previous.  Then I just slipped the flake over a light in the garland.
We are loving 2!

Snow Princess2nd Birthday

I have been planning Peanuts 2nd birthday party since the day after Daddys birthday party.  My husband thinks I am crazy.  I got my inspiration from a party I saw on Hostess With the Mostess: http://www.hostessblog.com/

winter wonderland wedding dessert candy buffet
I will post pictures of the final project, the party is this Sunday.  This party was so great, even though it was a wedding it is appropriate for all ages.  I added lavender so that I could throw Dora into the mix.  She will only be added in very small touches.  The main focus will be the snow flakes.
